Position End Date Open Date 07/15/2022 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants For first consideration, please apply on or before July 29, 2022 Position Summary Information Primary Purpose The Library Services & Operations Manager will ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and timely access to the range of resources and services offered by the Library and Learning Center. They areresponsible for the provision of excellent service and the efficient operation of all access services functions including oversight of the information desk, circulation processes, course reserves, user accounts, stacks management, and building access. The Library Services & Operations Manager also engages with user experience design practices to enhance the library services and policies, as well as promote a culture of equity and inclusion. Essential Functions

  • Manages the daily operations of the Stockton campus library, which includes the information desk, circulation processes, course reserves, user accounts, stacks management, and ancillary projects.
  • Leads and supervises student employees and temp casuals, including hiring, onboarding, training, determining workloads, delegating responsibilities, providing direction, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating job performance.
  • Recommends, formulates, and administers library policies for the Pacific community and the public, and maintains active, effective communication with Library employees and campus partners.
  • Plans and facilitates student events and tours. Serves as the library liaison for events such as homecoming, new student orientation, convocation, and graduation.
  • Engages with user experience design practices by intentionally gathering input from the Pacific community, as well as creating and analyzing statistical reports to identify service trends, improve library services and policies, and promote a culture of equity and inclusion.
  • Liaises and collaborates with campus partners including but not limited to academic support services providers, student life, technology services, and campus police.
  • Implements, customizes, and manages operational systems and software that provide essential services in support of room booking and circulation activities.
  • Ensures proper working order of the library facilities, equipment and other resources; communicates issues as appropriate and works directly with Physical Plant as needed.
  • Ensures the security of Library users by enforcing and monitoring security procedures and building access policies.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree.
    • Three (3) years of experience working in a public service-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications
      • Prior experience working in a library.
      • Prior experience managing a public facing environment.
      • Prior experience hiring, training, and supervising staff, students, or volunteers. Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
        • Strong management, supervisory and organizational leadership skills.
        • Ability to train, manage, and motivate employees; to assign work and supervise performance.
        • Ability to coach employees in improving performance and establishing and attaining professional and organizational goals.
        • Working knowledge of online systems and software utilized in academic library setting.
        • Ability to analyze statistics and interpret data to make sound recommendations.
        • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
        • Strong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skills.
        • Working knowledge and understanding of library circulation operations and policies.
        • Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
        • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, changing environment.
        • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
        • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
        • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.           Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Constant verbal and written communication. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
