Description: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: At the direction of the medical provider, demonstrates competency in administering medical procedures for the treatment of work-related illness and injury. Demonstrates competency in performing medical procedures in accordance with individual client protocols for pre-placement and periodic medical evaluations. Performs administrative tasks, in accordance with departmental procedures. Provides high quality service to patients, client companies, insurance carriers, contract staff, (e.g., CHMA) and Dameron Hospital. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a non-union position.


Review visit Worksheet protocol to determine medical services needing to be provided. Ensure all required forms have been fully completed by the patient. Obtain vital signs (e.g., height, weight blood pressure, pulse) and perform all necessary tests prior to patient being seen by the Clinician. Must be able to perform and demonstrate competency in the following medical procedures in accordance with departmental training standards:

Venipuncture Spirometry Audiometry Electrocardiograms (EKG) Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) Collection of urine specimens for drug testing Dipstick Urinalysis Vision testing - Snellen and Ishihara

Assist in the treatment of work-related illness and injury at the direction of the medical provider. Must be able to perform and demonstrate competency in the following medical procedures:

Maintain sterile technique Setup suture and other procedure trays Wound cleaning, preparation and dressing Placement of splints and braces Eye irrigation

At patient discharge:

Review and follow instructions on Visit Worksheet protocol Ensure all tests and examination procedures have been completed Schedule follow-up appointment and enter work status information into information system

Perform the following administrative tasks in accordance with departmental procedures:

Answer telephones, schedule appointments Register patients in hospital information system and set up patient charts Log patients arrival and departure times, to monitor service delivery time Log urine drug screens; call courier service for specimen pick up; fax chain of custody to MRO Review patient charts daily for pending test results Provide results of medical evaluation to designated employer contact(s) as soon as all results are obtained

Maintains open and effective communication with OHS supervisor to ensure back office staff is continuously adhering to:

Dameron Hospital's policies directly affecting back office staff, i.e., Hand Hygiene and Fingernails, Patient Identification, HIPPA, Medical Waste Management policies, etc.; Awareness of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) for a safe patient environment; Providing a high level of quality service

Monitor restrooms used for collection of urine specimens to ensure adequate bluing is in the toilet water and any non-essential items have been removed. Order clinical supplies as needed. Ensures that all clinical supplies are in full stock and that each exam and screening room is stocked. Actively participates in team conferences and staff meetings to update staff on any new or revised back office functions. Provides training for each Medical Assistant to ensure each is fully knowledgeable of all essential back office operations, i.e., clinical supply locations within the department, clinical supply ordering, stocking exam rooms and screening areas, specimen logging, specimen preparation for send-out and courier pick-up, etc. Provides training for each Medical Assistant to ensure each is fully knowledgeable of all essential off-site operations, i.e., necessary forms, billing, patient education, clinical supplies, adequate temperature for medication, post off-site procedures, etc. Must work at a fast pace, independently and with minimum supervision. Must effectively and courteously communicate both by telephone and face to face. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately and completely.

Display willingness to assist patients, employers and fellow staff. Types with accuracy at 25 wpm. Speaks medical terminology, articulately. Handles conflict in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
