Nationally recognized as a quality lead St. Josephs is consistently chosen as the most preferred hospital by local consumers.ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Simulation Technologist facilitates simulation-based learning within the Graduate Medical Education (GME) department. The Simulation Facility provides simulation based medical education for all resident physicians and visiting medical students. The position enhances the skills and abilities of all learners by organizing, scheduling, and maintaining the Simulation Center and its associated equipment. Simulations are between 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend sessions. -Duties include but not limited to:

  • Coordinates the delivery of all simulation activities in the GME Simulation Center including mannequin and other equipment operation during training sessions.
  • Prepare, set up, break down, clean up and restock the simulation rooms, control room, debrief room and additional teaching spaces before and after all simulation activities.
  • Create and apply moulage to enhance simulation realism; participate as an actor in simulation scenarios as requested.
  • Maintain the following simulation equipment to the extent that it is all in good working condition - manikins, simulators, task trainers, instructor PC's, monitors and more.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas and simulation space.
  • Support faculty with operation of equipment including providing hands on training as needed.
  • Collaborates with GME and Simulation leadership to maintain warranty and maintenance plans for all associated equipment including coordinating regular maintenance and repairs.
  • Track and maintain inventory and be responsible for receiving, storing, and stocking all equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in simulation training to remain competent in operating simulation equipment and standards of best practice in simulation education delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively with GME leadership, Administration, Simulation Faculty, other GME faculty, Nursing Administration and staff in all areas related to the Simulation Center.
  • Supports the vision of simulation delivery across the organization.
  • Develops standard protocols for AV and conferencing equipment in the Simulation Center and troubleshoots with vendor and internal support as needed.
  • Assists GME leadership in expansion of simulation activities within GME and interdisciplinary simulation activities within the hospital and community.QualificationsMinimum:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in areas of healthcare simulation. Additional experience in audiovisual technology, information technology, adult education, healthcare, and other relevant fields. An equivalent combination of experience will be considered.
  • Associate's Degree required. Bachelor's preferred.
