Position Summary Information Primary Purpose Reporting to the Director of Intercultural Student Success, the Coordinator of Intercultural Student Success supports and engages students from diverse populations, with an emphasis on Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander students. In addition, this person will enhance the climate of diversity and inclusion for all students by providing dedicated and integrated programming related to cultural awareness, equity, social justice, and the intersection of multiple identities. The Coordinator assists in the supervision of third spaces managed by Intercultural Student Success. Essential Functions 1.Support and engage diverse groups of students with an emphasis on Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander. 2.Assists in the development and coordination of co-curricular programming that supports student success through community-building activities, cultural programs, leadership development, community service and engagement, and identity development. 3.Collaborates with ISS, Student Life, and University partners in the development, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive range of goals and services to enhance the success of students from diverse populations. 4.Provide direct services to students aimed at increasing retention and completion, improving satisfaction, and enhancing overall success. 5.Participates in the Dean on Call rotation. 6.Understand campus and community resources and serve as referral agent for students needing academic and personal assistance. 7.Monitor academic progress and initiate interventions with appropriate campus staff, under the direction of the Director. 8.Facilitate student involvement in planning and implementing programs in diversity programming. 9.Embody and promote the values of inclusion, equity, and pluralism in all direct work with students and in collaborative efforts with the overall campus community. 10.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty and staff to create and maintain a campus climate that respects and values diversity, welcomes and fosters inclusion of all students, promotes a pluralistic worldview, and ensures that all students have an equal opportunity for academic success. 11.Participate in the analysis, consolidation, and reporting of assessment outcomes and collaborate with student leaders to submit annual assessment reports. 12.Functions and communicates effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds. 13.Seeks opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement. 14.Performs other duties as assigned or requested. This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them. Minimum Qualifications ---Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. ---Related experience providing guidance and/or related services to students. ---Experience organizing and planning programs and/or workshops. ---Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and diverse cultures. Preferred Qualifications ---Bi-lingual proficiency strongly preferred, knowledgeable in Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander culture. Skills/Knowledge and Expertise: ---Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills. ---Knowledge of and willingness to learn and work with technology related to student information systems. ---Knowledge of student programming, student services and activities; and community service programs. ---Interpersonal, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication skills. ---Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative but not definitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Work performed during standard business hours of 8am to 5 pm. Nights and weekends may be necessary to attend events or programs. Occasional travel to other campuses may be required. Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business.
