Senior Construction Estimator - Large Scale Vertical Building Construction Project Estimating K-12 and Higher Education / Healthcare / Commercial / High Rise / Judicial Building Construction Project Estimating Job Title: Senior Construction Estimator (Vertical Building Construction Background) Office Location: Oakland California 94612 Prestigious industry leading provider of Construction General Contracting, at-risk construction management and design-build services for both public and private sector client; actively seeks Senior Construction Estimator with past estimating experience pertaining to large scale vertical building construction projects. This estimating role will be based out of our Oakland, CA office. As the newest member of our preconstruction estimating team. The successful Senior Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects to be built for clients under the CM at Risk guaranteed maximum pricing structure as well as select bid pursuits. Responsibilities also included working with Chief Estimator and project management teams developing sections of schematic, design development and construction document estimates including soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids, and scopes of work, preparing quantity surveys, reviewing project plans and specifications for all CSI (Construction Specific Institute) categories of work. Senior Construction Estimator Qualifications and Experience Needed: 8+ years of construction estimating industry work experience working with or for a construction management or construction general contracting company that performs work on vertical building construction projects such as K-12 schools, higher education college and universities, commercial and corporate office buildings, high rise, healthcare, judicial or other public sector building projects. Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field of study Knowledgeable in some or all of the following: civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, specialties, interior finishes, exterior building wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems and the costs of these systems. Strong computer skills including the ability to use estimating software such as OnScreen Takeoff, word processing, spread sheets, bid management, online plan rooms and database applications and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook). Strong computer skills including the ability to use word processing, spread sheets, and email. Possess good organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to develop new skills and knowledge quickly. Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations. Senior Construction Estimator Essential Role and Responsibilities: Performs accurate, thorough and timely quantity takeoffs using company format, detail and coding for some CSI division systems for all levels of project documents (schematic, design development, construction documents). Develops accurate and concise clarifications and assumptions with project management teams assistance. Manages multiple projects concurrently with ability to multitask. Assists Chief Estimator with timely roll-out and execution of the entire estimate deliverable process. Obtains clarification on plans and specifications from architects and engineers when necessary. Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required. Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required. Develops unit costs accurately. Performs technical/plan review when required. Considers and understands problems, and identifies appropriate solutions. Develops knowledge in building designs, systems and construction materials through available resources. Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload. Becomes proficient in all computer software programs used in preconstruction with particular emphasis on estimating software (e.g. On-Screen Takeoff, Excel, Word and SmartBidNet). Constantly strives to improve individual capabilities, performance and expand knowledge of construction technologies and techniques. Works with Senior Estimator and Chief Estimator to manage and maintain subcontractor database and subcontractor prequalification. Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customers expectations.
