Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionJOB SUMMARY:With company growth comes professional opportunities. Here at In-Shape we are looking for strong, mechanically minded individuals to join our Facilities team. The Equipment Technician is key to ensuring all fitness equipment is working, clean and safe for our members. Along with helping move equipment from our clubs to the warehouse, this role will backfill our Club Technicians as needed. Eager to learn, passionate about fitness and exceeding our members needs are essential for one to be successful in this role.


  • -Coordinate with club leaders on equipment swap outs based on business needs to maintain high level of member experience
  • -Maintain a safe environment through correct implementation and following of all In-Shape safety policies and procedures and all OSHA or other government agency safety protocols
  • -Responsible for Asset Management for our warehouse
  • Provide repair vs. replacement recommendations to the General Manager
  • -Support New Club setup: moving equipment and general facility maintenance (painting, installing signage, etc)
  • -Fill role of Club Technician at clubs as assigned based on business needs and as directed by the Facilities and Equipment Support Manager (See Club Technician job description attached)
  • -Support emergency and natural disaster response (triage) efforts for the repairs of our buildings, building systems, equipment, and properties (as permitted)
  • -Assist in building our In-Shape community of members through a consistent member experience
  • -Attend In-Shape team meetings and trainings as required
  • -Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned


    • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment to lift 50-75 lbs on a consistent basis and heavier with assistance from a pallet jack and/or dollies, always keeping safety top of mind
    • Ability to work with interruptions, changing priorities and a busy work environment with tight deadlines
    • Self-motivated with high energy with a positive attitude
    • Self-managing with the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks
    • -Displays good judgment, confidentiality and diplomacy in handling important company information and communicating with others
    • Possess knowledge of and have experience with managing/repairing fitness equipment and trade work (painting, tiling, etc) as needed
    • Experience working in a health club, hospitality, retail, property management, assisted living community, or industrial environment
    • Must maintain suitable transportation
    • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful
    • Must have basic computer proficiency
    • Passion for fitness/health/wellness
    • Estimated travel time will be targeted at 60%
    • -Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays; as well as overtime and after-hours work
    • Bilingual skills a plus
    • Forklift certified, a plus
    • Travel to other Clubs for projects as needed; valid drivers license and clean driving record is a condition of employment

      • Opportunity for growth; professional developmentWORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sitting for an extended period. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Team Members are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasional reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member will be required to lift, carry or move equipment which at times may require the ability to lift 50-75 lbs. on a consistent basis.During the COVID-19 pandemic: All In-Shape Team Members may be asked to assist with greeting members to perform temperature checks and health screens, ensure members practice physical distancing and monitor cleaning of equipment after each use. Detailed instructions will be provided at time of hire.In-Shape Team Members will be required to comply with company policies regarding the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), by following instructions and outlined safety guidelines, to protect our team and club members. Club Safety training and equipment will be provided. Team Members are to report to management, or designated team member, any safety risks or potential risks identified in the work environment.
