culture directly from our team.YOUAs a Tool & Die Maker Journeyman,
you support product development and manufacturing by constructing
and repairing progressive dies, machining parts, and making
prototypes as required by our fast-paced, high-volume sheet metal
manufacturing operation.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)Develops
die function and structure by studying prints of die, product, and
prototypes, applying knowledge of material under stress, machining
and assembly methods, and mathematics. Creates, repairs and
maintains progressive and single stroke dies, and press braking
tooling. Changes dies over to specified part required based on
production needs. Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or
specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating
tools, dies, or assemblies. (25%)Machines parts by using lathe,
mill, drill press, surface grinder, CNC mills, and other typical
shop equipment. Selects, dresses, sets up, and uses grinding wheels
for surface grinding, and form grinding. Hand grinds, polishes and
belt finishes die components. (15%)Confirms assembly by verifying
dimensions, clearances, and alignment of parts and components with
micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks, dial indicators, etc.
Confirms performance of die by installing die, checking clearances,
inspecting operation of die, making adjustments, and comparing
finished product to specifications. Verifies dimensions,
alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to
specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge
blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators so the progressive die
produces a finished good that matches the production drawing.
Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity. and
defects then reports to department lead to develop a plan to
complete any required repairs. (15%)Provides guidance and support
to the production shop in the set-up and operation of punch press
dies and tooling. Assists the production department in the
assurance of product quality, and the resolution of tooling-related
quality issues. (15%)Ensures operation of equipment by completing
preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's
instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Performs die maintenance (cleaning, inspection and preventive
maintenance) and die repair (reconstruction and restoration of
damaged dies). (15%)Maintains tooling drawing files/ records of die
maintenance, modifications in computer programs including and not
limited to maintenance connection, AutoCAD, excel, and Microsoft.
(5%)Orders tooling parts and spares as necessary. (5%)Oversee Tool
and Die Apprentices giving them the correct feedback as they are
learning and progressing. (5%)DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIf you
can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps
some of the following would be helpful too:* Certificate from
accredited school or trade school that a machinist program
completed is required. Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck
(PIT) Certification (will certify at hire)* Associate degree (AA)
in related field or Journeyman's card preferred.* 5-10 years in
experience required in tool and die shop with progressive dies and
tools.* Demonstrates a basic knowledge of raw materials, production
processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the
effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Knowledge of
machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and
maintenance.* Ability use computer programs including and not
limited to AutoCAD, Microsoft, Excel, and Maintenance connection.*
Knowledge of measuring tools including and not limited to tape
measure, caliper and micrometer. Knowledge of machines and tools,
including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.TravelThis
position requires no domestic and international travel.Work Status
& LocationThis full-time, non-exempt position is located in
Stockton Ca. This is a Swing shift position.RelocationRelocation is
not available for this position.Pay$37.00 - $41.85/ HourREWARDS AT
